About Crookett House Art Center

Set within a meticulously restored 18th-century horse farm in the rolling fields of Maganey in County Kildare, Crookett House Art Centre will open its doors in September 2026. 

Surrounded by mature trees, historic stone outbuildings and the quiet rhythms of working agricultural land, the centre and gallery occupy a space where craft and place are inseparable.

The project began four years ago as a vision to create not simply an exhibition space, but a living artistic community. Alongside the gallery, Crookett House offers a two-bedroom apartment and a dedicated pottery studio — a complete environment in which artists can live, work and exhibit in a landscape made to inspire their practice.

Crookett House hosts multiple artist residencies and exhibitions each year, bringing together established local and international artists alongside emerging talents, for whom the residency program offers both creative space and a platform. Work produced during each residency finds its natural culmination in an in situ exhibition, connecting the art directly to the place of its making.

Ideally positioned within the creative geography of the Irish midlands — minutes from Carlow and its celebrated arts festival, forty minutes from Kilkenny and under an hour from Dublin — Crookett House Art Centre arrives as a quietly ambitious new presence on Ireland's contemporary art landscape.
